About

Who am I? The question always stumps me. It feels bizarre; it is bizarre to not quite know who you yourself are. You know others so well, but you don’t know yourself. Because you just are. And you’ve never really given a thought to that have you? But when you do… you don’t have an answer to it.

My name is Mahnoor. I'm 14 and going on into 9th Grade.

I’m a reader.
I escape into a world that doesn’t belong to me. But, I belong there. And when I go in there, there’s no coming back. I travel the world. I travel other worlds all just by sitting on this tiny windowsill where I spend most of my day. Just reading.

When I was very little, my mother introduced to a most intriguing toy. This toy flipped open revealing pictures that told something called a story.  For quite some time I enjoyed turning these pages and looking at pictures while listening to the story. That night, I slept with the book grasped firmly in my hand. Over the years, I developed the habit of reading before going to sleep at night. Flash forward 10 years later; I still wake up in the morning with a book tucked under my arm.

I’m a writer.
I travel to even more worlds. These are the best, the most perfect, the most ideal worlds for me. I create them. It’s simple really. All it requires is ink, paper and a small touch of personal experience. And then all you’ll ever receive from people is praise and applause. Praise and applause.

My English teacher called me to stand in front. ‘Read it out loud’ she had said. And so I did. My voice echoing, the students hanging on to every word I said. It was a pretty horrible story in my opinion. Saying the abandoned shed was dusty and smelled like rotting food was stupid and cliché. I had only added that because I remembered exploring my grandmother’s garage a few days ago and that was pretty much the only thing I ever knew about deserted buildings in second grade. Nonetheless, my story was a huge success and was published in the school magazine. The highest honor any junior student could ever receive.

I am myself.
I talk too much. Laugh too much. Eat too much. Sleep too much. But it’s all me. Every bit of it. I write when I’m frustrated. I write what I feel. I see a rocket ship in a pencil. Maybe my imagination gets the best of me sometimes but that is who I am.

Who are you? I’d love to get to know you. Thanks for stopping by my blog. It means the world to me.

    1. Thank you so much!! I love your blog too. And yes. You should definitely write if you love doing it. I am in the process of writing a book however, it is actually based around my own city and country. Since I have many international readers, I never really thought of sharing it with my readers. But if I get enough requests though... we'll see!

      Thanks again!
